Pinwheels for Prevention

April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month and in 2008 Prevent Child Abuse America introduced the Pinwheels for Prevention® campaign. Pinwheels help represent childlike whimsy and lightheartedness where children grow up happy, healthy, and prepared to succeed in supportive families and communities.

The mission of the La Rabida Children’s Advocacy Center (CAC), a program of La Rabida Children’s Hospital, is to reduce trauma to children and families involved in investigations of child abuse and violent crime through a multidisciplinary team approach that combines efforts of law enforcement, child protection investigators, prosecutors, medical personnel, and mental health providers. Services provided include coordinated forensic interviews of child victims of abuse, victim advocacy services, and support services at no cost to children and families.

How to Participate
As a symbol, a pinwheel conveys the message that every child deserves the chance to be raised in a healthy, safe, and nurturing environment. Sponsor a pinwheel for our Garden of Hope which will be “planted” at the CAC in April.
