Our approach lets children and their families benefit from the full spectrum of rehabilitative care available to them
Each year, La Rabida helps hundreds of developmentally and physically challenged children reach their full potential through comprehensive rehabilitative services for a variety of medical needs including cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, developmental-delay/impairment, traumatic brain injuries, burn injuries, pediatric neurological conditions and NICU graduates.
Our department includes pediatric-specialized physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, infant developmental specialists and social workers. Many of our therapists are also credentialed for Early Intervention. Our team takes a truly integrated approach to caring for children by meeting each week to conduct evaluations with families to ensure the child receives the expertise and care they need.
In addition to basic therapies, we also provide specialty services such as:
- Adaptive Seating Clinic: Our physical and occupational therapists provide custom seating and mobility for children.
- Serial Casting Clinic: Our physical therapists provide a series of stretch casts for children to lengthen tight leg muscles.
- Oral-Motor/Feeding Clinic: Our speech-language pathologist, social worker and dietitian work with children who have feeding difficulties and their families.
