La Rabida is able to change the lives of children and families because of our incredible team and their dedication to providing top-notch care and creating a safe, nurturing environment for all. Every summer, we gather together to celebrate this hard work during the employee picnic. The annual celebration looked a little different this year to ensure everyone’s safety. Our staff took part in a socially distant picnic on the hospital’s lakefront lawn where they picked up to-go gourmet boxed lunches from Virtue Restaurant and ice cream from Shawn Michelle’s Homemade Ice Cream.

La Rabida’s Heart of the Year was also awarded during the employee picnic. The Heart of the Year award is presented to a staff member who goes above and beyond, showcases a positive attitude, and acts as a role model to those within the hospital. This year’s award was presented to Andrew Cuison, a System Support Technician on the Information Services (IS) team at La Rabida. While very talented in providing quick and attentive technical support, Andrew is known around the hospital for his upbeat attitude and eagerness to help solve any problem. Congratulations Andrew!

The last year was challenging to say the least, and we are so grateful for the commitment of our staff to ensuring that our patients and their families continued to receive the care they need. The annual picnic is just one small way we can express our gratitude to our team for their hard work. Thank you for all that you do!
