The COVID-19 pandemic has sent shock waves through the nation’s healthcare system, causing a shortage of PPE supplies, or personal protective equipment. One way our community can help? Making masks for our non-clinical, support staff.
La Rabida Children’s Hospital has a minimal supply of PPE, specifically masks, at this time. The donations of hand-made masks will be utilized by our support staff, freeing up our limited PPE for clinicians. With the restricted supply that we have at this time, we will rely on the cloth masks to help conserve the resources that we currently have.
Masks can be made by following these directions.
It is important to note that handmade masks will not protect against COVID-19 virus but can help alleviate the spread of germs for our non-clinical staff. All handmade, donated masks will be laundered prior to distribution.
Volunteers may donate by hand delivering or mailing masks to La Rabida Children’s Hospital at 6501 S Promontory Dr, Chicago, IL 60649.
