Don’t Just Look at the Pictures
An appeal from a former La Rabida patient to be actively engaged with La Rabida’s mission, not just passively entertained.
I was treated at La Rabida some 60+ years ago, as a patient with rheumatic fever—living in a third-floor room for almost 5 months.
I remember my room at the hospital like it was yesterday.
And while I didn’t understand then why I had to stay there so long, I am forever grateful for the treatment and care I received.
Over the years I stayed in touch with La Rabida mostly through what they sent me in the mail, and today via social media.
And over the years I have learned they’ve become so much more than the La Rabida I knew. And as I learned more, I became more engaged with their mission and committed to the important work they do to serve children and families.
Especially during this season of celebration and hope, I encourage you to learn more about La Rabida by reading the stories they post on social media (and not just look at the pictures!) and to become more engaged yourselves.
You’ll feel better for it, as will the children at La Rabida.
