Rosetta Stone Language Program

Gran Respuesta al Programa de Español
(Big Response to Spanish Program)

Seventy five La Rabida employees signed up to learn Spanish as part of the Rosetta Stone Language Program set to begin in February.

An additional 20 employees sent emails inquiring about the program once the sign up period had closed.  They are first on the waiting list for the next session, which will begin this fall.

Kevin Rath, Associate VP of Planning and External Affairs and the language program administrator called the response “overwhelming,” commenting that "the 75 responders represent about 20 percent of the hospital’s employee population".

In February, the 25 first employees will log on to the web-based interactive training program.  The self-paced course has five levels with increasing difficulty.  As the first group progresses through the levels, a second group will begin in March.  The last group of the spring session will begin in April.  This five level course is being offered to employees at no cost.

“By enhancing employees' morale, we are able see how our personal growth positively impacts La Rabida as a whole.’’

Employees, excited about the opportunity to become bilingual, also see how the classes will help patients, many of whom are Spanish-speaking.
