The Only Facility of its Kind in the Chicago Area
Diabetes, a chronic condition, affects one in 600 children in the United States. As yet, medical research has not found a cure. However, through education, training and access to excellent medical care, families can learn to manage their child’s diabetes, avoid diabetes-related complications and help him or her lead a healthy, well-balanced life.

- Ongoing assessment, planning and intervention
- Individualized, age-appropriate patient and family education
The Chicago Diabetes Center treats more than 800 patients a year with type I or II diabetes. Our experienced interdisciplinary team works in concert to help patients and their families manage their condition.
Services for Families
- 24-hour emergency telephone consultation
- Daily phone access to a diabetes nurse specialist for problem solving
- State-of-the-art laboratory techniques
- Nurse educators, dieticians and social workers specially trained in pediatric diabetes available at your clinic visit
- Continuing routine communication between patients and professionals
- Psychosocial services, including counseling and therapy, if needed
- Patient and family support and education groups
