Recognition and Awards
La Rabida Children’s Hospital is recognized by the National Committee for QualityAssurance (NCQA) for its medical home programs defined by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP)as “continuous, comprehensive, accessible, family-centered, coordinated, compassionate, and culturally effective to every child and adolescent.”
NCQA named the hospital, which serves children with special healthcare needs, as the first independent pediatric facility in Illinois to receive its Physician Practice Connections-Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCC-PCMH) designation. The Level 2 recognition was the highest available for La Rabida Children’s Hospital at the time of application.
La Rabida Children's Hospital is recognized by the Joint Commission for the hospital and the laboratory accreditation.
Joint Commission is a nationally recognized leader in developing the highest standards for quality and patient safety in the delivery of health care. The Accreditation award recognizes La Rabida Children's Hospital in its dedication to continuous compliance with the state-of-the-art standards. This is a voluntary survey process that reviews the standards of care guidelines specific to the needs of the patients served. The accreditation award instills confidence in the community of the patients served, and of the commitment to quality patient care and patient safety.
The hospital earned two-year certification of the Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval for Laboratory Services Accreditation by demonstrating continuous compliance with its performance standards. La Rabida underwent a rigorous, unannounced on-site survey. During the review, a Joint Commission expert surveyor evaluated compliance with laboratory standards related to several areas, including document and process control, risk reduction, and staff qualifications and competency. The surveyor also conducted on-site observations and interviews.
