Hospital Chairs Design Theme: All Star Pitcher ‘Fergie’ Jenkins
Seats Displayed along Michigan Avenue; Auctioned for Charity
La Rabida Children’s Hospital is one 47 Chicago-based nonprofits and other groups to partner with Cubs Charities to celebrate the 100th birthday of the famous Wrigley Field and its rich history.
Each organization designed original ball park seats to pay homage to historical events in and around the field. The colorful seats are now on display along the Magnificent Mile as part of the Centennial Seats program, which will run through August.
La Rabida’s dual seats are near the Tribune Tower and feature Hall of Famer Ferguson Arthur 'Fergie' Jenkins, Jr., a three-time All-Star and the 1971 National League Cy Young Award winner. The so-called Centennial Seats will be sold in an online auction where participants can place bids to purchase the seats, with proceeds split between Cubs Charities and the respective partnering nonprofit. Visit wrigleyfield100.com, locate La Rabida’s seats and bid online at cubs.com/chairs.
La Rabida was offered this exciting opportunity through longtime supporters Magellan Corp. Michael Minkus of Magellan Corp., Cub Charities sponsor, said the company likes to get involved with projects that give back to the community. “This is probably the most colorful and exciting one yet.”
