Clothing Donation is a Special Holiday Gift for Patients

(CHICAGO – December 20, 2016) -- Through a generous donation from Frankie’s on the Park, the upscale children’s wear boutique, current and former La Rabida Children’s Hospital patients took to the catwalk Sunday for the 10th annual patient fashion show.
More than 30 young fashionistas joined the event, which included the opportunity to select to keep an outfit of their choice and teen fashion “consultant” volunteers who provided make up and manicures for the girls. After the makeovers, the young models took to the runway for parents, friends and La Rabida physicians, nurses and staff.

The girls and boys had their pick from rows of fancy party dresses, trendy jeans and sweaters, cutting edge outfits, and accessories to match, all generously donated by Lisa Rolfe, owner of Frankie’s on the Park.

“Every little girl and boy deserves the chance to feel amazing and clothes often do just that,” says Rolfe, a long time supporter of La Rabida. “It doesn’t feel that great to be in the hospital and we’re so happy to bring some sparkle and shine to La Rabida patients on an otherwise grey December day.”

The fashion show and donation from Frankie’s is an example of the diverse support for La Rabida Children’s Hospital and its patients. Almost all of La Rabida’s patients are from underserved Chicago communities and receive treatment regardless of their family’s ability to pay.

“We’re so grateful to Lisa and Frankie’s on the Park for sponsoring this event for ten years running,” said Brenda Wolf, President and CEO of La Rabida Children’s Hospital.” “Year after year, we love to see the coming together of our kids and the volunteers who visit us on this day. This show of generosity is so special and brightens the lives of our kids and families.”
